Not only is ICE SOCCER for the consummate sports player, but virtually anyone ages 10 and above, who is in reasonably good health and is able to walk briskly, can play ICE SOCCER. The sport does not require a specialized skill set or being in top physical condition to play and have fun.
Among players of different sizes, the ice becomes its own unique leveling factor — the big, burly aggressive player cannot use his/her brawn to full advantage as in football. The ice surface gives its own definition to and enjoyment of the sport and allows gender–specific competition or mixed teams of all age groups, sizes and sexes to simultaneously play together.
ICE SOCCER attracts the competitive athlete whether he/she skates or not or one who cannot skate well enough to play ice hockey and has no desire or talent to figure skate. As a new sport, years of prior playing experience are not required to do well and to have fun.
ICE SOCCER is also an ideal women's sport ... from teens to college co–eds to adult women. The traditional on–ice sport of hockey, with its bone–crunching physical contact, slashing sticks and 100 M.P.H. pucks and a requirement for highly developed skating skill, has not been extremely popular with women (even though some women's hockey leagues are forming in many locales). ICE SOCCER is a perfect alternative sport.
And for population groups where there is little cultural history with or long–standing tradition about ice sports, there is, however, usually a passion for and ability in field soccer (futbol). ICE SOCCER provides a natural bridge for these communities to become involved in an ice sport.
All groups that want to do something physical during the winter months (or in the summer months where ice is available) are potential ICE SOCCER players – possibilities include church groups, family reunions, police and firemen's leagues, municipal dignitary or Chamber of Commerce fund raisers, etc. Focus groups for teens have even suggested that ICE SOCCER birthday parties would be a novel treat for all, especially in the summer.
